THE ONE Somerset event held at Taunton Racecourse made for a jam-packed afternoon of free entertainment and education, celebrating diversity in the community.
The event last Friday, had live performances, an information fair and stalls selling locally handcrafted produce.
Opening speeches began on the main stage at 11am, and at 12am the day was opened to the public with a poem performed by Matt Harvey.
Alison Mawhood who helped run the event said: "We had a very positive response, and had lots of people saying that they would like to be involved again next year if funding allowed."
The event was expected to end at 8.30pm - but an impromptu performance kept the audience captivated for another half an hour. The musical group known as the Balaphons of Cameroon took centre stage with members of the public who had only learnt how to play that day.
