From Trevor Philcox, Brighstone:
I was so saddened to hear of this latest tragic, but possibly preventable, accident (CP, 19-04-19).
For years, I have considered the route from Calbourne to Cowes utilising Betty Haunt Lane a risky undertaking, particularly when heading from Cowes, owing to the inadequate visibility having reached Forest Road.
Whoever is responsible for ensuring that the trees and bushes which partially obscure the driver’s vision should be cut back or removed should act without delay so that there is no repetition of this calamity.
