From Veronica Cowan, Gurnard:

I LOVE sitting on The Parade in Cowes, but I’ve noticed how much dog excrement there regularly is on the pavement.

This morning, I felt compelled to pick up a particularly large amount, because visitors from a cruise ship were alighting from several coaches, and I couldn’t bear the thought of them stepping in these deposits and having to get back on the ship with their colourful holiday shoes covered in it.

Could not the Harbour Commission fund a dog warden in the summer, who could perhaps double up as a clean up person where deterrence has failed? Alternatively, I would happily pay a levy on my council tax for such a service, because the town needs visitors to keep it vibrant in the summer.
