IT WILL be family-friendly, fun and featuring TV presenters Dick and Dom — The Great Wonderfest is coming to the Isle of Wight!

The County Press spoke to the madcap pair of presenters as they prepare to set sail to the Island for the start of the festival on August 1.

Q) Are you looking forward to hosting the Main Stage at the festival?

A) Yes indeed because there’s such a great line up to host, including ourselves.

Q) What makes this event different to other festivals?

A) It’s a true family festival, something for all ages. Also it can be used as a holiday to the Island, you can camp for seven days and get a festival thrown in too.

Q) What can we expect from your Dick Vs Dom live show?

A) It’s a show for the whole family and the whole crowd. Everyone gets involved. We split the audience into two halves, the Dicks and the Doms, and then battle it out to see who’s best.

Q) What can we expect to hear in your Dick Vs Dom DJ battle?

A) We play loads of types of music from indie to pop, rock to rave, there’s even a Christmas section.

Q) Who else are you looking forward to seeing?

A) Obviously all of the main headliners, The Vamps, Busted, Sigma and Example, but we are also looking forward to a bit of Bez and Rowetta — and Rastamouse of course.

Q) Will you be hanging out with any of the acts?

A) We know Busted from various TV shows and we’ve met The Vamps before too but we’ll probably have a bacon sandwich with Peppa Pig.

Q) Will you be trying out any of the adventure activities?

A) Maybe a bit of axe throwing?

Q) Have you performed on the Isle of Wight before? If so, what do you think of the place?

A) It’s a first for us so we’re really looking forward to it. Dick used to holiday here as a kid so it’ll bring back loads of memories. It’s a great Island.

Q) Which family-friendly activities at the Great Wonderfest would you particularly recommend?

A) The pitch sports arena sounds great, also Emily Leary’s ‘Get Your Kids To Eat Anything’, the skate park and of course the human table football.

Children will love the activities on offer.

There's Peppa Pig and George, live performance and meet and greet.

Also on the bill are Rastamouse, Robots, Starlight and Flawless.

There's human table football, Makaton singers, a vintage funfair and the Wolfguard Viking Village.

IW Scouts will host activities and there will be family discos.

There's even pyjama parties and the chance to pat a unicorn.

Add to this glitter stations, pamper lounges, a giant spirograph and a giant box fort, and no-one will want to go to bed.

There will also be special “Sensory Nooks” for children who suffer from autism or other disorders.

The nooks are small huts designed to shut out noise from the outside and provide a quiet atmosphere.

The County Press has teamed up with The Great Wonderfest to offer one lucky reader a pair of limited edition Isle of Wight resident weekend non-camping tickets.
