From Chris Cory, Wootton:
Cllr Clare Mosdell refers to people with mental illness being “protected from their weaknesses”. (CP 02-08-19).
Interesting use of words. I wonder, does she consider a physical illness to be a “weakness” ? And tell me, is this a weakness of character, or a moral weakness even?
Cllr Mosdell clearly adheres to the 1950s view of mental illness, the “pull yourself together” school of thought.
At the very least an apology is due, though a resignation would be preferable as clearly the councillor has a disconnect between brain and mouth which is a serious impediment to any politician.
