JACK Up the Summer will go ahead today (Sunday) after yesterday's event was cancelled due to the weather.

As reported, organisers said high winds meant the site at North Fairlee Farm, Newport, was too dangerous.

However, the forecast looks much better today and the gates will open at 11am.

Organisers posted on Facebook late last night: "We’re back and ready to go!

"A massive thank you to our on-site crew and production team who have worked incredibly long hours — now 48 and counting — to provide first class professional advice in order to ensure the safety of all our festival-goers, traders, artists, suppliers and contractors, and to reassemble the stage to ensure the festival can continue as planned tomorrow.

"We are incredibly grateful for your support and dedication and look forward to continuing the weekend’s entertainment when gates open at 11am tomorrow morning."
