THE Brexit Party has unveiled its new parliamentary candidate for the Isle of Wight.

Peter Wiltshire, a businessman originally from Bedford, who has a second home in Sandown, will stand against Conservative MP Bob Seely should the government call a General Election.

Mr Wiltshire said: "I really chose the Island because I am passionate about it and I see my future here.

"I am married to a New Zealander and we have three children.

"I am honoured to have been chosen as the prospective parliamentary candidate for The Brexit Party for the Isle of Wight.

"I am not a career politician but a businessman who believes in delivering results.

"Sixty-two per cent of this Island voted for Brexit. I am appalled by the politicians failure to deliver what the majority of our community and our nation voted for.

"I want to make sure I do absolutely everything possible to deliver Brexit for the Isle of Wight and for the UK." Mr Wiltshire stood for the Brexit Party in the European parliamentary elections earlier this year, in the south east region.

He owns a payment systems software company that deals with banks throughout Europe.

When asked if he supported a fixed link, which was in the news last week after Labour's Lord Adonis said a bridge or tunnel was needed to 'save the Island,' Mr Wiltshire said: "At the moment I'd rather stay right out of the fixed link debate.

"I know there's some very strong opinions on it, and I do think connectivity to the Island is an issue, but is it just about over pricing, or is a fixed link really something that everyone is wishing for?

"At the moment I just want to meet as many people as I can over the next month or two to find out what the issues are."
