JOURNALIST and broadcaster Justin Gladdis has died at the age of 47.

Mr Gladdis was a presenter on Isle of Wight Radio for many years, and was the voice of Southampton Football Club.

He grew up on the Island, going to Partlands School in Ryde, then Ryde School from the age of nine.

He went on to study journalism at Highbury College, Portsmouth, and graduated from there at 18.

He joined the IW Radio newsroom and enjoyed his time working there.

After a few years, he moved to the mainland and worked at various radio stations as newsreader.

At the time of his death, he was a senior broadcast journalist at Wessex FM in Dorset — a job he loved.

For 19 years, Mr Gladdis worked matchdays at his beloved Southampton FC, calling the goals scored from the tannoy room.

He died at his home in Dorset after suffering ill health for a number of years.

He leaves his mother Dianne, father Melvyn, and sister Claire.
