RESCUE teams were called to Culver Cliffs this (Monday), near Shanklin, afternoon amid fears that someone had fallen.

Crews from the Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team and the Bembridge RNLI were called to the scene at 1.42pm after a caller reported seeing someone at the base of the cliffs.

A spokesperson for the UK Coastguard said: "A first informer told us he could see a male who had fallen below the cliffs.

"But on further inspection it turned out to be a rock formation and the search was called off.

"No one was at risk, and it was just a darker piece of rock."
