THE Island's Melodic Choir has sung its way to more than £1,100 of donations for the Friends of St Mary’s Hospital.

The money was raised from ticket sales and donations at its last three Isle of Wight concerts, at Medina Theatre, Arreton Barns and the Bargeman’s Rest.

Choir leader Kay De’Lacy said: “Over the past four years we have raised approximately £7,000 for good causes on the Island.

“I thought it would be fitting to support our own hospital this time, in recognition of the great work of all the staff and volunteers.”

Friends' chair Lesley Myland said the money would be used to buy radios for the hospital’s dementia patients, enabling them to listen to music from the past, provided on memory sticks by relatives and friends.
