MANY an avid walker turn up for the final St Helens and Bembridge fort walk of the year.

A large crowd gathered on Saturday for the event — when walkers take advantage of an especially low tide to walk out to the fort.

The walk takes around 30 minutes and there are two routes to and from the fort — one, from Old Church, St Helens, and the other from Silver Sands, Bembridge.

Walkers made the journey under the watchful eye of coastguard and lifeboat crews.

Thanks to Karen Howcroft for sending in these pictures, showing her daughter Amelia and cocker spaniel Honey enjoying the walk.
