A HOUSE party descended into chaos in Wellow, leading to multiple emergency services vehicles attending the scene and four teenagers arrested.

The incident happened last night at a property on Main Road.

The ambulance service received four 999 calls, at around 10.30pm, and despatched an officer and two ambulances.

Several youths, described by the IW Ambulance Service as 'in drink', were treated at the scene, and two were taken by ambulance to A&E — one with a cut to his head.

Two of the teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and remain in custody this morning.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 10.20pm yesterday, September 13, following reports of an unexpectedly large number of people attending a party in Main Road, Wellow.

"Officers attended the scene and remained there until the incident, which was contained to one address, was resolved.

"A 16-year-old boy suffered a cut to his head and was taken to St Mary’s Hospital.

"Four people have been arrested in connection with this incident.

"A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and obstructing a constable in execution of their duty. He remains in custody at this time.

"An 18-year-old boy was given a conditional caution for being drunk and disorderly in public.

"A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. He remains in custody at this time.

"A 17-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. She remains in custody at this time."

Southern Vectis put out a warning that they were unable to serve the area owing to police activity blocking the road.

The Newbridge to Totland bus was delayed and operating 30 minutes late in what the bus operator described as "a situation beyond our control".

Freshwater Fire Station sent a co-responder and tweeted: "Inter-agency response to an incident in West Wight this evening, Freshwater CoRo, police units, ambulance duty officer and ambulances in attendance.

"A great example of our emergency services working together in the community."
