A SPINE tapping evening of rock music is returning to the Isle of Wight on Friday, October 11, raising funds for military personnel and veterans.

Medina Theatre will host Rock for Heroes — a live rock concert — to raise funds for Help for Heroes.

Since the inception of Rock for Heroes more than £30,000 has been raised in ticket sales and donations, with a longer-term goal in place to become the first independently run theatre production on record to yield more than £2.5m for a specific charity.

Producer, Phil Hawkins, said: “Rock for Heroes is very dear to our hearts, with all the men in my family having served as Paratroopers, RAF and Marines.

“This is the only way I know to keep the memories alive of those brave men and women who lay themselves down for our country, not because they hate what’s in front of them, but because they love and care about what they leave behind.”

The music will be performed by an octet of instrumentalists, and will feature hits from such luminaries as Queen, Dire Straits, Status Quo, ACDC and Guns ‘n’ Roses.

Last year the emphasis was on fun and audience interaction, with the intention to emulate that on this tour, albeit with expanding audiences.

Tickets available from the Medina Theatre Box Office.
