ROAD crash survivor Becky Wall will leave the Isle of Wight next week, to start the next stage in her recovery.

Becky will be going to a specialist neurological rehabilitation centre.

Her family released the following statement: "Becky is doing fantastically and the team at St Mary's Hospital have done a fantastic job and we can't thank them all enough.

"Becky is still struggling with her short term memory and can get herself confused quite easily.

"Most basic functions have returned well such as typing on a tablet or phone.

"Physically she is doing extremely well, with walking now becoming a lot more natural.

"She still has a long road ahead that's going to take her recovery into 2020 and possibly beyond, but as always we are all extremely positive about where Becky will get to by the end of it."

They stated they will not be commenting on the outcome of the case against driver Ben Entwistle, who was recently sentenced at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on charges related to the crash.

He admitted three counts of driving while disqualified, three counts of driving with no insurance, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident.

He is currently serving 22 weeks in prison and was banned from driving for five years.
