From J. Gibbons, Ryde:

After reading the account of the climate demonstration and the excellent article by Malcolm Mime, two points occur to me:

1. Will the parents be fined for allowing their children to take part during school hours? Or are the authorities conniving, or even encouraging children to take part in some political demonstrations? Will that attitude be extended to causes of which the authorities do not approve?

2. If the children ever find out we adults are robbing them blind we could all be in trouble. For decades politicians have overspent the country’s income in order to give us a better standard of living than we can earn. They do this by  irresponsible borrowing — we pay more than a £1 billion interest every week now. Who is going to have to pay off our debts, or continuing to pay the interest (imagine what that’s going to be like when the children grow up).
