FORECASTERS have warned the Island could see as much as 20mm of rain this afternoon (Monday)

The Isle of Wight Met Service issued a yellow warning yesterday ahead of likely wet weather which could lead to flooding in some places.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Met Service said: "The main area of interest is during the afternoon and into the evening with the risk of some heavy and potentially thundery downpours developing.

"The rainfall will be very localised and could potentially miss the island altogether, but if anywhere catches one of these downpours, there could be a further 10-20mm of rain in a short space of time, this would likely lead to some localised flash flooding as well as exacerbating the already high levels of some rivers and streams."
