PUDSEY visited the Isle of Wight — and several groups and organisations raised money for Children In Need.

Little Squirrels Community Nursery (part of KNL Childcare) at Ryde Business Park held a pyjama day for the children and staff.

Everyone got dressed up and made a donation to the cause, raising more than £100.

There were themed activities including a duck race, expressive arts and design, as well as Pudsey playdough and a special 'midnight feast' snack.

Staff donated their time and baking skills to make a selection of cakes for a cake sale.

Shanklin United Reformed Church toddler group, CatURpillars, held fundraising sessions over two days, involving more than 60 children plus their parents, grandparents and carers.

The children decorated Pudsey Bear biscuits and painted pictures and masks.

Janet Harley, who runs the group, said: “It was such a lovely atmosphere. Some children came dressed in Pudsey outfits and everyone had a great time raising money for such a worthy cause. In total we raised £73."

Cheeky Chimps day nursery in Ryde enjoyed a great day, including face painting, decorating biscuits and having a teddy bears' picnic. They raised £78.40.

A team from Asda, led by the supermarket's community champion Clare Jones, embarked on a Pudsey challenge, taking him to 20 locations across the Island in seven hours.

They started live on air at Isle of Wight Radio and went on to visit places including Amazon World, the Isle of Wight Zoo, Wight Mouse Inn, The Needles and Isle of Wight Pearl.

At Amazon World, Pudsey held a sloth called Pugsley. The day raised £436.

Pudsey also visited Hovertravel, where staff fundraised with a cake sale, and dressed up as celebrities or childhood heroes.

Loretta Lale, head of commercial at Hovertravel, said: “Welcoming an iconic figure such as Pudsey really helped to kick-start our fundraising activities for Children In Need.

"Even for his flying visit, Pudsey was asked for selfies with customers and staff and he also met our very own mascot, Henri the HoverBear."

Staff and children at St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary School in Carisbrooke, donned their pyjamas on Friday in support of Children in Need.

The school community came together with a pyjama-wearing mufti day to raise money for the cause. Other fundraising activities included a pudsey-themed bake sale run by Year 6 children, and the sale of official Children in Need merchandise.

The school raised £400.
