POLICE have issued a reminder to dog owners to keep their dogs on leads near livestock following the death of a deer at the Isle of Wight Deer Farm in Newport.

The fallow deer was killed between 8.30pm and 8.45pm on November 20, and the farm believe it was a dog that caused the fatal injuries.

At the time, the farm said they had lost three deer to the dog.

The police said: "While it’s not illegal to have a dog off a lead near livestock, it is illegal to not have them under close control."

Anyone with information about the incident should call the Country Watch team on 101, quoting 44190418627.
