AROUND 75 homes were left without water following a burst main in Binstead this morning (Monday).

The main, underneath the Binstead Road roundabout, ruptured shortly after midnight and flooded the road.

A spokesperson for Southern Water said: "A member of the public reported a burst pipe just after midnight last night. Our team was on site within 20 minutes.

"At its peak, about 75 properties were affected, but we’re glad to say the 8ins main was being recharged by 9.50am this morning.

"Customers may notice slight discolouration when they first use their taps. This will normally clear if you run the water for a few minutes.

"Traffic control measures will be in place until the road has been reinstated and the tarmac has set.

"We apologise for the disruption this burst and the traffic management has caused and thank customers for their patience.”
