TWO Isle of Wight charities received a dose of New Year cheer after receiving funds from a popular annual festive event.

Terry and Sue Ramplin’s Christmas lights display at Long Lane in Newport raised £4,300, which was split between the Wight Brainy Bunch and John's Club.

The couple presented the cheques to charity founders and representatives — £2,150 for each cause. Kathryn Grimes, co-founder of the Wight Brainy Bunch, said: "Terry and Sue have raised so much for charity with their Christmas lights display over the last 20 years, so we were delighted to be chosen as one of their beneficiaries.

"Once again they have raised an amazing amount, and our share will go towards supporting Island families affected by brain tumours.

"We are incredibly grateful to them both and to everyone who kindly donated."

Terry and Sue thanked all the Island businesses and families who supported them.
