A WOMAN hit three parked cars when she tried to manoeuvre her car while drunk.

Gemma Joy Hodson, 37, of Park Road, Ryde, had been at a wake at The Falcon in Ryde on January 17 before she attempted to move her car.

She was spotted hitting the other cars by a member of the public, who called the police.

Hodson admitted drink driving at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and was disqualified from driving for 23 months.

She had an alcohol reading of 90, when the legal limit is 35 — more than two-and-a-half times the limit.

Ann Smout, prosecuting, said before going out to her car, Hodson had been warned it was not a good idea to drive.

Although she did not drive a great distance, she managed to hit three cars.

Barry Arnett, for Hodson, said two of the cars were not damaged and the other suffered only minor damage to the bumper — and she found the owner and told them straight away.

She was attempting to manoeuvre her car out of a parking space, but stopped when she realised she wasn't capable.

Magistrates sentenced Hodson to a 12-month community order, to include 60 hours of unpaid work.

She was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £90 surcharge.
