A SECOND flood alert has been issued for the Isle of Wight (Tuesday).

The Environment Agency has issued an alert for the coast — warning people in Freshwater Bay, Sandown, Shanklin, Gurnard and Ryde to prepare for flooding.

It said: "Flooding is possible.

"Tuesday afternoon’s tide at 12.24pm is higher than normal, with strong westerly Force 6 winds and large waves.

"For one hour either side of high water, waves will cause some spray overtopping across the exposed coast at Freshwater Bay, Sandown, Shanklin, Gurnard and Ryde.

"At 1.53am on Thursday, the tide might be high enough to cause very minor impact flooding.

"Take care if using coastal footpaths at high tide."

One flood alert and a more serious flood warning were issued yesterday (Monday), along with a Met Office weather warning for wind.
