AN exhibition of pictures from The Wight Book, is opening at Dimbola Lodge later this month.

The Wight Book, a celebration of all that is great about the Island, was published in June last year.

Now the Freshwater Bay museum is to showcase the pictures taken by Island photographers for the book.

Julian Winslow, Holly Jolliffe, Neil Williams, Peter Mumford, Christian Beasley, Stephanie Mackrill, Gary Wallis, Nick Edwards, Jason Swain and Ben Wood have their images in the exhibition.

“Since the successful launch of the Wight Book at Nunwell House in June 2019, I have been in discussions with Dr Brian Hinton to bring an exhibition to Dimbola,” said Ben Wood, photo editor of the Wight Book.

A spokesperson for Dimbola said: "It is with great pride and excitement that Dimbola will be exhibiting more than 60 framed prints of photographs from the book in the Olympus Gallery.

"Two extra Island photographers who also contributed to the Wight Book, Chad Powell and Braeden Carey will have pictures in the exhibition.

"Of special interest, since he will be exhibiting in the home of Julia Margaret Cameron, will be the portraits of Gary Wallis, who photographed all 22 of the writers from the book."

This exhibition is the first show since Dimbola underwent extensive renovations and marks the start of its 2020 programme.

The show will run from Saturday, February 29, to Sunday, March 29.

The last remaining copies of the Wight Book and prints from the exhibition will be for sale.
