A MAN has appeared in court today (Wednesday) following reports of an altercation in Newport earlier this week.
Zaki Mollud, 27, gave a Lewisham address when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court.
He pleaded not guilty to the three charges — one count of assault, one count of using threatening words and behaviour and one count of theft.
He denied threatening the owner of a Capital Jewellers.
As reported, police were called to St James' Square on Monday following reports of an assault.
Police confirmed they were called to a disturbance at the jewellers.
Magistrates set a trial date for April 3.
Mr Mollud was released on bail.
