STORM Dennis will affect the Isle of Wight for longer than first thought this weekend.

Updated information from the Met Office issued today (Thursday) says the yellow warning for high winds now runs from 10am on Saturday to midnight on Sunday, while a yellow warning for rain, now runs from noon on Saturday to 9pm on Sunday.

The Met Office warns the storm could cause disruption to travel and potential damage to building due to gale force winds.

Met Office warnings for wind:

* Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely and there is a chance that some roads and bridges could close.

* Some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities are likely to be affected by spray and/or large waves.

* There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.

* There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage

* Flooding and disruption is predicted in the rain warning.

Met Office yellow warnings for rain:

* Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

* Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible.

* Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

* Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads.

* Possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.
