A TOP London fashion buyer who travelled the world has celebrated her 100th birthday with a special ride on a tuk tuk.

Jojo Eldridge-Quick was taken in style to a party for family and friends at the Royal Solent Yacht Club on Saturday.

Jojo, of Yarmouth, worked for major fashion companies including Liberty, Debenham and Freebody and Harvey Nicols, serving celebrities like Princess Margaret and actress Ingrid Bergman.

She was born in Nottingham and the family moved to Sheffield aged nine when her father Charles, a basket maker, was relocated there with his company.

She married first husband Frank aged 20 and became a tailoress. During the War she joined the Land Army and was posted south where she worked for the Maidenhead Milk Marketing Board testing cow's milk for tuberculosis.

Daughter Sue was born in 1944 but Jojo's marriage broke down after the War.

She started working as a sales assistant for Rothwell Gowns, Sheffield, and later moved to Hereford where she met second husband Aubrey and managed a fashion shop.

Jojo branched out opening her own three fashion shops in Hereford, Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye as well as running a small guest house for salmon fisherman on the River Wye.

Ten years later, they sold up the businesses and moved to Bournemouth where she worked for Bealesons. After Aubrey passed away, she went to London where her career took off.

There she became a fashion buyer for Debenham and Freebody, then Harvey Nichols, before being headhunted by Liberty as a model gown buyer. She married third husband Cyril and opened her own high end fashion shop called Daisy in Connaught Street which she ran until 1988.

She said: "Fashion was such a big part of my life, they were wonderful times. I was lucky to travel the world and meet so many interesting people."

After retiring, the couple bought a second home in Spain where they would spend several months at a time. After Cyril died in Spain she moved to the Island to live with Sue in Yarmouth.

She met her fourth husband, Norman, at the Royal Solent Yacht Club and married in 2009. The couple lived in Porchfield until Norman died in 2015 and she returned to Yarmouth.

As well as Sue, Jojo has grandchildren Julia and Mark and great grandchildren Molly, Max, Florrie, Gus, Eadie and Grace.
