AN ISLE of Wight artist will celebrate the beautiful local landscape next month, with an exhibition focusing on solitude.

The self-titled Lilly Louise Allen Quarr Abbey Exhibition will feature landscape art, including the body of work the artist made while on a residency in Iceland, and a selection of images from the Island.

Among the works on display will be the original artwork Lilly created for her popular Isle of Wight wall calendars.

Lilly said: "I wanted to create a body of work to explore the feeling of solitude you can experience in certain places.

"I feel like the Isle of Wight is a wonderful place for this, and we're very lucky you don't have to search far to find it.

"I think islands in general have a magical quality about them.

"I found this especially true on my artist residency in Iceland, where the landscape is extraordinarily beautiful and wild.

"I will be exhibiting this work alongside the original paintings I created for my past three Isle of Wight wall calendars. I will also have new greetings cards and fine art prints for sale."

The exhibition runs from Thursday, March 5, until Tuesday, March 10, and will be open daily from 10.30am to 4.30pm at Quarr Abbey.

Lilly will be taking part in this year's Open Studios as well as several other events on the Island.
