A FLOOD alert remains in place for the Eastern Yar today, although water levels are falling.

The government's flood information service has updated the alert to 'flooding is possible — be prepared' following recent rainfall.

It stated: "Water levels in the Eastern Yar are now falling along the whole catchment.

"Unsettled conditions are set to continue at least until Thursday, March 12, with light rain and showers but no significant rainfall totals.

"River levels will continue to fall although the river remains highly responsive to rainfall.

"We will continue to monitor the river and forecast and recommend that all residents remain prepared for flood impacts should the forecast change."

The warning is in place until tomorrow's update at noon.
