FRESHWATER Fire Station received a thank you today (Wednesday) — from a 72-year-old man whose life crew members helped save following a car crash on Middle Road.

In a post on Facebook, a spokesperson for the Friends of Freshwater Fire Station said: "This is the reason we do what we do.

"We last saw Keith on Christmas Eve, while we were cutting him out of a car following a serious road traffic collision on the Middle Road.

"After being flown over to the mainland, and many weeks in intensive care, Keith is now home and doing well with his recovery.

"He stopped by today with his daughter to drop off a card and treats for the emergency services, and wanted to say thank you to everyone that was there at that terrible accident — for saving his life."
