A NEW bakery shop and cafe is gracing Newport High Street.

The Island’s much-loved, family-run business, Grace’s Bakery, has opened its sixth outlet.

The Redrup family, who are behind the successful bakery business, previously trialled a pop-up shop on the premises during the Christmas period, selling festive fare.

It is Grace’s second shop and cafe in Newport town centre, and has been fitted out by Grace’s managing director, Ray Redrup, and his sons, David and Daniel.

The new outlet has more cafe seating than other branches and a slightly different menu, incorporating more vegan options, new lines of loaf cakes and plenty of tempting biscuits, flapjacks and brownies.

New to the shop is a self-service bread slicer, so customers can slice their white bloomers, multi-seed tins, spelt cobs and sourdough loaves however they like.

Grace’s opened its original Ryde branch in 1997 and the name comes from Ray’s eponymous nan.

Ray’s wife, Carole, and their four children, Daniel, David, Sarah and Jodie, are all involved in the family business, as well as Ray’s brothers, niece and grandson.
