VENTNOR Coastguard Rescue Team was called to Shanklin yesterday evening (Tuesday) — tasked to suspected ordnance.
At 7.30pm, the team arrived at Hope Beach.
They took photos of the item in question and sent them to the Royal Navy EOD, who deemed it was not ordnance.
A spokesperson for the rescue team said: "Always dial 999 and ask for coastguard if you see anything unusual on the beach."
