FAIRWAY Holiday Park at Sandown has been sold — and the new ownership has some exciting plans for the park moving forward.

The McCarthy family, of County Galway, Ireland, have bought to the site in The Fairway, to add to the 15 other sites they own around the country.

New high-speed broadband is already being installed, and landscaping of the park is underway, renovating the roadway, footpaths and car parking bays.

The next port of call is to redecorate the exteriors of the buildings, and erect an owners exclusive enquiry centre.

Plans for the future include the installation of as many as 100 new holiday homes, and two new lodge developments in the park.

"It's an absolutely lovely park," said new owner, Myles McCarthy.

"Its our first venture on the Island, but we've seen what others do, and we're not like that.

"We're a family-run business and we're here to look after people.

"A lot of parks on the Island have an age restriction but we don't have that.

"The idea is that people buy their holiday home, but people can still rent if they want.

"We're planning to rejuvenate the site and bring in a lot of customers from the mainland, as well as take care of our existing ones."

"We're looking to open up the clubhouse and bar very soon," said Myles.

"There will be karaoke, curry nights and lots of live entertainment, open not just to the park but to the local area."
