A PUB on the Isle of Wight is doing everything it can to help following the latest coronavirus developments, and is calling on the wider community to chip in.

The owners of The Yarbridge Inn, Brading, are providing free meals for the vulnerable and elderly — the people who need it most during this testing period.

The pub is appealing to individuals to spread the word, and to local businesses to provide further supplies — to help facilitate the production of the meals.

"Once we start making food, we really don’t want any to go to waste, so it’s imperative we find the people with the most need within our community," said pub owner, Becky Fox.

"Where trade has understandably dropped, we are left with a kitchen full of food — the supermarkets may be bare but we are not.

"We have a fully functioning kitchen with the means to cook many hot meals for the vulnerable in our local area.

"We can deliver it to their door, free of charge and free of contact — to preserve their self-isolation.

"If you know somebody in a vulnerable situation that would benefit from a hot meal, or you're a local business that can help, please get in touch."
