OPERA classes on the Island have turned to online streams to keep spirits high amid the coronavirus epidemic.

Project:Opera, an Island-based company dedicated to spreading a love of opera, has taken all its classes online, live-streaming them through Facebook.

The Wellbeing Singing Group will be going online with classes streamed on Facebook every Wednesday at 11am.

Vocal classes at Monkton Arts will still go ahead but will also be available as live-streams.

A spokesperson said: "Live-streaming of vocal exercises are available to view on Facebook.

"Plans for Carmen are still on, at the moment, as the event is planned for the summer, but venues and ticket sales will be reviewed to allow social distancing.

"April's concert, Sounds of Heaven, on Easter Saturday, April 11, will be live-streamed on to social media.

"Soprano Annalisa Vaughan, pianist Steve Parker and poet Edmund Matyjaszek will perform poems and music inspired by the gospels.

"The event will be available to view on live-stream on Facebook for the benefit of all who are self-isolating."
