THE ISLE of Wight courts have closed from today and all hearings, sentencings and trials have been postponed until further notice.

No new hearings or matters are set to appear before magistrates or a judge at the courts, which have suspended all procedures and sent most staff home.

Speaking to the County Press, a member of the court staff detailed how there was no legal staff within the building, including no members of the Crown Prosecution Service.

Anyone with upcoming hearings has been contacted and has been told that their matters will be continued at a later date.
