ONE Island resident has expressed his concerns over the amount of rats at Big Mead duck pond in Shanklin.
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, told the County Press: "My concern is that the new rat camp is taking over the duck pond.
"In one of the pictures, you can see four sitting in a row, taking it in turns to have a swim.
"Rats can spread a number of diseases, including Weil's and tuberculosis.
"With everything else that gets fenced off after being deemed dangerous, perhaps similar measures should be put in place around the pond — at least some signage."
