WIGHTLINK'S Fastcat service, from Ryde Pier, will not run after the last sailing today (Monday April 6th), as the company responds to the impact of coronavirus.

All sailings from Ryde Pier Head to Portsmouth will be cancelled tonight, until further notice.

In other measures, unveiled last week and reported by the Isle of Wight County Press, the cross Solent operator is also minimising crossings on its Fishbourne/Portsmouth vehicle ferry route.

From 6am tomorrow (Tuesday) the Portsmouth/Fishbourne route will be reduced to a two-hourly service.

Wightlink had previously suspended all sailings between Yarmouth and Lymington.

Last month, the Government announced measures to allow the companies to work together as they tackle the collapse of passenger numbers at what is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year.
