Former County Press reporter and war hero Ian Gordon this week received another medal from the Russian government for his part in the Arctic convoys during the Second World War.

In the week of the VE Day celebrations, Ian, 95, who now lives in the Old Charlton Care Home in Cowes, received the medal via post on Tuesday to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the convoys, which played a part in the defeat of Nazi Germany.

The convoys operated from from August 1941to May 1945, delivering tonnes of cargo to Russia, including planes,tanks, supplies and clothes.

Last year, Ian was thanked by the French and Polish presidents for his role in the D-Day Landings at a ceremony In Southsea to mark the 75th anniversary of the Normandy Landings.
