A MAN has been charged on counts of burglary, shoplifting and common assault today (Sunday).

Roland Tomlin, 42, from Terminus Road in Cowes was charged with three counts of burglary other then dwelling offences at local pubs and a restaurant, one count of shoplifting, and two counts of common assault on shop workers during the shoplifting offences.

A post on the Isle of Wight Police Facebook page said: "Officers are currently still investigating the incidents and we hope to provide an update later on.

"Work on this case will have been carried out by several different departments and (the) investigations team has put a large amount of work into these incidents today."

Sgt Mark Lyth has remanded Tomlin in custody overnight to appear at court in the morning.
