AN ISLE of Wight artist known for her popular classes, has set up an online group during lockdown.

Julie Sajous had been running an art school for adult students in Wellow, but was forced to close her doors as a result of the Covid-19 lockdown.

She has now launched the online Wellow Art Academy Sketchbook Project (WAASP), with the intention of offering an affordable and fun ongoing art project encouraging people to maintain contact with one another through shared forums and Zoom meet-ups.

WAASP already boasts an international following, welcoming students from far and wide, with participants receiving support, training and input for a small weekly fee.

Julie said: "We are creating a sketchbook together through the lessons, there is no start or end, so people can join when they like and will be able to slot straight into the process. I hope they will also feel like part of a vibrant artistic community.

"Anyone who would like to know more can contact me on 07753 102482 or visit the website at www.wellowartacademy.com."

Members of the group receive access to two new video lessons per week, a forum to share work and ideas with an expanding community, and a weekly Zoom group Q&A session, including guidance from Julie, for a subscription of £10 per week.

Julie hopes students can build a portfolio of material to display at exhibition later in the year.
