FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a fire in Freshwater this afternoon (Wednesday).

Crews from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to the address on Camp Road shortly after 2pm.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "We were called to Camp Road in Freshwater at 2.19pm.

"We sent crews from Newport and Freshwater and extinguished the fire using hose reel jets and two breathing apparatus.

"The crews left at 2.50pm, having extinguished a fire in a roof space of a wooden outbuilding.

"The building appears to be structurally intact and advice was given to the householder."
