BEMBRIDGE Coastguard Rescue Team was called to East Cowes today (Wednesday) to investigate a report of a jet-ski collision.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: "Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team was called to reports of a potential jet-ski collision on East Cowes seafront at 4.05pm today.

"It soon became evident that a jet-ski had come ashore at high speed, rather than a collision.

"The team then issued the owner with safety advice, and left the scene shortly after 5pm."

A message from the Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team's Twitter account has urged those using similar crafts to take care.

The Tweet said: "Several members of the public report near misses with vessels too close inshore.

"All pleasure craft users have a (responsibility) to know the bylaws."
