A TEMPORARY one-way restriction is set to be introduced along Forest Road — for Island Roads workers to carry out work on St Mary's Roundabout.

From Monday, June 1, a one-way restriction will be introduced along Forest Road, Newport, from its junction with Hampshire Crescent to its junctions with Whitesmith Road.

On-street signage will depict the exact length of the restriction as the works progress.

The restriction is required for safety during junction improvement works on St Mary's Roundabout site until works have been completed.

A ‘no waiting at any time’ parking restriction will also be introduced along Carisbrooke Road, from a point 13 metres south-west to a point 120 metres south-west of its junction with Recreation Ground Road.

The restriction is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public due to traffic on the signed diversion route for the St Mary’s junction improvement works.

UPDATE 9.20am:

The Isle of Wight Council has informed the County Press this morning (Friday) that the works are not likely to start before June 8.
