THE mother of a cancer victim says her "faith in humanity has been restored" after a money jar of great sentimental value was returned to her.

Jan Morris put out her plant table yesterday morning (Friday) at the end of her drive at Castle Street, Carisbrooke, only for what was believed to be an opportunistic thief to steal its content.

Among the plants and items taken was a unique money collecting jar, raising money for The Alayna Shae Fund — decorated in memory of her daughter, Alayna.

"I'm so happy it's been returned," said Jan.

"Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to the person who returned the jar and plants.

"My faith in humanity has been restored."

Attached to the jar was a note that read: "I am so truly sorry, my dyslexic eyes told me all in the box was free.

"Sorry if I caused you any distress, I have put some money in your jar for your fund."
