REPORTS are coming in about a road traffic accident in Newchurch.

Winford Road is currently blocked while the emergency services deal with the incident.

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Isle of Wight Police are all in attendance.

UPDATE 5.45pm: A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service said a pedestrian has been injured and is being attended to at the scene after being hit by a car.

The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has one ambulance, two rapid repsonse vehicles and an air ambulance at the scene.

UPDATE 6.15pm: Both the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have confirmed the casualty is an adult woman. She is still being cared for at the scene.

UPDATE 7.10pm:

A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Police said: "We were alerted about 4.30pm by the IW ambulance service. 
"A female trapped between a car, a Toyota Yaris, and fence in a serious condition. Fire service also called to the scene. 
"Road closures were put in place. Officers are still at the scene." 

The incident is on Newchurch High Street.
