NEWPORT Mcdonald's will be opening its doors next week, and there's good news for those hankering for breakfast — it will also be serving its breakfast menu.

The Newport-branch of the popular fast food chain is ready to open its doors to customers from Wednesday — though to effectively maintain social distancing, it will be operating a takeaway service only.

The restaurant will be open from 7am until 10pm, seven-days-a-week.

While a full menu will not be on offer, a number of items will be making a return, including shakes, mayo chicken, bacon mayo chicken, hot chocolate and the bacon double cheeseburger.

While breakfast items are on offer, no bagels, wraps or porridge will be available.

McDonald's says it is working to bring back popular missing items later in the year.

In preparation to reopen, the St James' Square premises has undergone a number of changes.

Some tables have been removed to aid social distancing, and ensure more open space around its designated collection point.

Customers are encouraged to order via their mobile phones, with only three accessible service points available due to social distancing measures.

Staff members will be managing the dining area at all times to manage customer flow, social distancing and to assist customers.

Signage will be in place, the floor will be marked, and hand sanitiser is available upon entry and exit.
