Lockdown rainbows, created by children from Yarmouth Primary, are now on display at Wightlink's West Wight terminal building, as the NHS marks 72 years.

The  work is being displayed in the windows of the ferry firm's building in the town.

Dean Murphy, Wightlink’s head of port operations, said: “The artwork brought both a splash of colour and a really important message to the heart of Yarmouth in time for this weekend’s celebration of the NHS’s 72nd birthday and the final Clap for Carers.”

Members of staff Cheryl Hedley, Debbie Munn and Tanya Heimour co-ordinated the activity at the school.

Debbie said: “As key worker children, our pupils were really keen to create these positive messages to say ‘thank you’ and we are pleased that they are now being put on display at a prominent location in the town.

“All of us at the school would like to like to join Wightlink in thanking key workers and of course our carers and NHS staff. Happy anniversary to the NHS!”

In April, the ferry firm put rainbow pictures up on its Fishbourne car ferry, to cheer those travelling for essential reasons.
