THE Ryde Inshore Rescue lifeboat raced across the Solent this evening (Sunday) to tow a damaged RIB to safety.
The four people onboard had called for help after the vessel began taking on water as a result of two faulty bungs.
Ryde Inshore Rescue was called to the scene by the UK Coastguard shortly before 6pm.
A spokesperson for the Coastguard said: "We received a call at 5.54pm regarding a RIB that was taking on water but not sinking.
"Ryde Inshore Rescue was tasked to assist four people onboard, and towed the vessel back to Portsmouth.
"Nobody was injured, and safety advice was issued."
