A WRITER from Newport is celebrating the release of his debut ebook — at the age of 81.
Ken Irons' inaugural release, Scenes of Crime, is a partially authentic crime thriller with a compelling boxing backdrop.
Ken has drawn on his East London upbringing and a lifelong passion for the squared circle to create a compelling, action-packed and multi-layered narrative.
Scenes of Crime tells the story of a hard living, crooked businessman from Bethnal Green — himself a former amateur boxer — whose younger brother becomes a professional fighter and graduates to the British heavyweight title.
Despite pleas from Roy’s wife and friends, older sibling Mike, for financial gain, places his brother in a clearly mismatched world title fight, with devastating consequences.
Author Ken Irons was born in East London in 1938. He grew up with a twin brother, who he sadly lost this year, and a younger sister.
Ken moved to the Island in 1961, the year he married his wife, Pauline. His son, Allan is a well-known and respected Island cricketer, and has two sons of his own, Tim and Michael.
Scenes of Crime is available as an ebook only, via Kindle.
