From Iain McKie, Totland:

Island MP Bob Seely appears to be labouring under the apprehension that anything on the Island requires his approval as demonstrated by his reluctance to support the Isle of Wight TT (Diamond Races) next year.

This is not what an MP does. An MP’s job is to legislate and lobby, where appropriate, for the economic and social wellbeing of their constituents.

It is right that an MP should lobby for funding and other economic advantages and to ensure that all the constituents have full access to their rightful services and are treated fairly.

Beyond this a Member of Parliament should have no public presence for fear of their input being interpreted as the Government’s position (when they are in power, or the position of the Opposition when not).

We have seen some very odd behaviour from our MP since he was elected and this is yet another one for the list.
